Katy Griffin is a truly remarkable lady who sadly had to watch one of her closest family members, her father, turn from a loving family man and successful Businessman to an alcoholic, from which, he sadly never recovered. Katie made it her mission to understand how such a dramatic change could occur and is now a mental health nurse and Founder of Thera-Sea. As a speaker, Katy has a wealth of knowledge on the topics of self-regulation, how to alleviate stress, sleeping habits, nutrition, and the importance of relationships.

Having grown up in the Peak District, Katie was surrounded by the great outdoors and spent much of her time seeking adventure. Having completed her BA at Loughborough University in Jewellery and Silversmithing, Katy then went on to follow her dream and completed her BN (Bachelor of Nursing), Mental Health, from the University of Chester. Her first role in healthcare was as a Mental Health Worker with the Priory where she helped rehabilitate young people with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. A position which she loved, she then became a Mental Health Worker with the Derbyshire County Council and the NHS. With the NHS, Katy would then become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Her talent in providing mental healthcare evident, Katy would then become the Mental Health Specialist at Falmouth University. During her time here, she not only helped with mental health related student cases, but she also provided the mental health training for all staff members – a testament to her knowledge and years of expertise within the field.

Wanting to further help those who are struggling with their mental health, Katy founded Thera-Sea. Growing up, Katy loved the outdoors, and she has combined her love of the outdoors with helping others. Katy uses her 13 plus years of clinical experience to equip participants in her workshops with awareness skills around their own, and others, mental health. She is all too aware that rewiring our brains to improve our mental health is not a quick fix and she is on a mission to change how we look after our well-being. Offering retreats, workshops, and away-days, those who go to Thera-Sea will leave feeling uplifted and informed, able to harness the power of positive behaviours, and the tools needed to utilise these skills in their everyday life.

Helping people at the heart of everything she does, Katy has specifically tailored her programmes and workshops at Thera-Sea to include the positive influences of nature, physical activity, food, and learning which help people reconnect with nature in a stress-free environment. Katy’s many years of experience working in mental health, coupled with her desire to aid others in their own battles with mental health, makes Katy one of the most sought-after mental health speakers. She is able to provide wisdom and tools in her workshops to ensure everyone who attends, will leave with a new outlook on life.
