Shamash Alidina is an international best-selling author who is passionate about eradicating the stigma surrounding mental health, dedicating his life to spreading awareness of the importance of mental wellbeing. Shamash has an unprecedented amount of knowledge of mindfulness and has trained nearly 500 mindfulness teachers in the past 11 years whilst spending 10 years teaching mindfulness in schools. The co-founder of the world’s first Museum of Happiness, Shamash is a seasoned speaker who can deliver workshops and talks on positive psychology and mindfulness and the benefits it can have on your mental health.
Growing up, Shamash was always into science – he loved making robots and playing with chemistry sets. At university, it came as no surprise that he went on to study Chemical Engineering at Imperial College, London. Stumbling upon a quote from the School of Practical Philosophy would be a turning point in Shamash’s career: mindfulness and meditation soon took over his life and he even started running his own workshops at the philosophy school. After spending time as a teacher as the Head of Health and Wellbeing and then the Senior Manager for St. James independent Boys School, and subsequently the Head of Physics for St. Catherine’s School, Shamash still felt like there was something missing from his life.
Shamash visualised that he would teach people mindfulness and discovered his true calling in life. Within six months he began the London Mindfulness and Meditation meet-up group. From humble beginnings, Shamash has gone on to teach mindfulness at numerous Fortune 500 companies including Barclays, Allianz, Louis Vuitton, JP Morgan and the bank of America to name a few. He runs the hugely popular and successful online ‘Teaching Training in Mindfulness’ course to ensure the basic principals are available to a wide audience, ensuring they live a meaningful life which is as stress-free as possible. As the Founder and CEO of Learn Mindfulness and Happier World Conference, Shamash has published an incredible 10 books on the subject of mindfulness, selling over 150,00 copies, cementing him at the forefront of his field.
In recognition of his dedication to creating a more “mindful, kindful and playful world”, Shamash was awarded the Independent Happy List Winner in both 2016 and 2017, and was the Facebook Community Leadership Programme Winner. From working with a wide range of individuals coupled with his background in science and education, Shamash has developed an understanding of mental health from both human and scientific perspective. Having spoken for the Happiness and its Causes Conference, Sydney, there is no doubt of Shamash’s unmatched ability to educate an audience on mindfulness, tailoring his speeches to ensure they are always informative. Do not hesitate when booking Shamash Alidina for your next event.
“Shamash was an inspiring science teacher who delivered excellence through his ability to communicate essential principles and ideas to his pupils through entertaining exploration. His attention to pastoral care and well-being of the pupils was enthusing. A motivating, positive and measured senior leader, he was always optimistic, readily accepting new initiatives and ideas. Shamash was a supportive and valued colleague whom I have no hesitation in highly recommending.”
“Shamash is a true expert in his field. He truly walks the walk and shares his knowledge and advice with generosity and compassion. It’s always a pleasure working with him.”
“I was extremely fortunate to have Shamash, as my keynote speaker at a networking event I was hosting in the City.
Shamash was extremely professional and provided an excellent talk on Mindfulness Through Stress, which everyone who attended the event found to be very engaging plus enlightening.
I have no hesitation in recommending Shamash as a keynote speaker.”
“Shamash and I were both speakers at the same large event in Australia. I’ve never forgotten our first meeting – or our second or our third. EVERY interaction with Shamash is unforgettable because he not only makes you laugh more than you’ve ever laughed before – he also makes you feel special.
There is no one more appropriate to run events or institutions around the theme of happiness than Shamash. On top of the fact that he is a great and inspiring speaker he is, more importantly, a great human.”
“I ran a lunchtime seminar at GSK in the London headquarters on ‘Mindfulness in the workplace’, and Shamash agreed to lead the seminar. Shamash quickly understood my brief and that this was meant to be a ‘taster’ session that could be understood by employees that had never even heard of mindfulness before. I was impressed by the fact that Shamash managed to deliver a seminar that was based upon good science, but it was delivered in a creative, fun and dynamic manner. The practical exercises that Shamash took us through were very well received. In the days after the seminar, attendees told me they had wished the seminar had been longer than 1 hour at lunchtime, they wanted more! If you’ve got stressed out employees, I’d highly recommend getting Shamash to introduce them to mindfulness in the workplace.”
“Shamash is a principled human being with a passion for mindfulness. His tremendous skillset combined with strong values makes him an ideal leader of learning within the field of mindfulness education. I commend him highly both as a learning partner and as a teacher/facilitator.”
