Beverley Callard is a hugely successful TV actress who has become popular among audiences for her wonderful portrayal as Liz McDonald in Coronation Street. Since 1989 Beverley has appeared as Liz becoming one of the soap’s most iconic characters. As well as this she has starred in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Emmerdale, and appeared on the 2020 series of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! Throughout her life, Beverley has suffered from depression and bipolar leading her to take medication and use her platform to destigmatise mental health issues. In her role as a mental health speaker, Beverley has helped audiences across the country to feel empowered to talk if suffering and has shared her personal experiences to support an open conversation.
In 1989 Beverley joined the cast of Coronation Street and her life hasn’t been the same since. This role catapulted her into the living rooms of millions of people and over the intervening 30 years, she has continued to portray the character of Liz. After leaving and returning to the show on a few occasions her most recent stint began in 2013 and is set to come to an end in 2021. Her enigmatic and vibrant personality has made her a firm fan favourite and she has also become a star of the stage appearing in the likes of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice and a number of Christmas pantomimes.
Beverley began her acting debut when she was just seven years old and was soon gracing TV screens on Emmerdale in 1983. Alongside her early television roles, she also made her mark as an aerobics and fitness instructor releasing DVDs and newspaper columns featuring her exercises. Despite such extensive success and a career in the spotlight, Beverley has been open about her mental health conditions to raise awareness of the effects. As a mental health speaker, she can provide a vast array of advice and insight through sharing her experiences.
