Live Well Every Day: Your Plan for a Happy Body & Mind

Rising to fame as a reality television contestant, Dr Alex George fast became a one-of-a-kind influencer. Determined to use his newly established platform for good, Dr Alex has made a name for himself as a wellbeing and mental health advocate, backed by his professional career as an A&E doctor. From Instagram to parliament, Dr Alex has made an undeniable impact on the awareness of mental health issues and now advises corporate clients on the ways in which they can support the health of their employees.

An authority figure in the fight to end mental health stigma, Dr Alex was named the UK Government’s Youth Ambassador for Mental Health, appointed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in 2021. Years of determination led to Dr Alex’s appointment, having campaigned extensively for greater mental health support in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and in the wake of his brother’s death from suicide. As a trained medical doctor working in University Hospital Lewisham A&E, Dr Alex has further experienced the impacts of negative mental and physical health in his patients, giving him the experience and qualifications to support others.

Stepping into the spotlight in 2018, Dr Alex is recognisable from his time as a contestant on ITV’s Love Island. Signing up to the reality show in the hopes of finding love, Dr Alex didn’t walk away with a girlfriend, but he did win the heart of the nation. Down to earth and personable, audiences favoured Dr Alex from the outset during the fourth series of the show, and subsequently gained a huge fan following outside of the Love Island villa. He has since been a resident presenter on Lorraine, starred on Celebrity Masterchef and presented for Watchdog. He has also worked with charities such as Mind, YoungMinds and the Anna Freud Centre on a mission to have mental health sit on the National Curriculum, just as maths and English do. In 2023, Alex is joining Anna Richardson and Yinka Bokinni as the Presenter of Naked Education – a programme dedicated to teaching people what ‘normal’ bodies look like and empowering body positivity.

Currently, Dr Alex is championing greater awareness for mental health amongst young people and has released his first book ‘Live Well Every Day’ packed with advice for body and mind, and earning him the title of Sunday Times Number 1 Bestseller. He also has a podcast ‘The Waiting Room’ which celebrate healthcare heroes by telling their stories. As a sought after mental health speaker, Dr Alex is not only an expert in his field, with proven experience as an influential adviser, but he is instantly recognisable from his media career. A leading authority on mental and sexual health, book Dr Alex George for an accessible, informed and open conversation surrounding mental health.

In November 2023 we sat down virtually with Dr Alex George and discussed his role with Downing Street and how we can encourage an open conversation with young people about mental health. Watch our Exclusive Interview with Dr Alex George.
