Dr Alex George is one of the UK’s most influential voices in mental health and wellbeing, combining frontline medical expertise with a powerful public platform to inspire healthier, happier lives. Rising to national prominence following his appearance on ITV’s ‘Love Island’, Alex quickly distinguished himself as far more than a television personality. A qualified doctor with extensive NHS experience, he has dedicated his career to improving conversations surrounding mental health, emotional resilience and wellbeing. Through campaigning, broadcasting, writing and public speaking, Alex has become a trusted advocate for early mental health support, helping individuals and organisations better understand the importance of mental fitness.

Working as an A&E doctor within the NHS, including at University Hospital Lewisham, Alex witnessed firsthand the growing mental health challenges affecting people across the UK. His medical background gives him a unique authority as a speaker, allowing him to combine evidence-based insight with relatable and compassionate communication. Following the tragic loss of his brother to suicide, Alex became even more determined to campaign for greater mental health awareness and support services, particularly for young people. His work during and after the Covid-19 pandemic led to his appointment as Youth Mental Health Ambassador to the UK Government in 2021, a role awarded by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in recognition of his tireless advocacy.

Alongside his campaigning work, Alex has become a leading media figure focused on wellbeing and emotional health. He has collaborated with organisations including Mind, YoungMinds and the Anna Freud Centre, helping to push mental health education higher on the national agenda. Alex is also the author of four Sunday Times bestselling books, including ‘Live Well Every Day’, ‘The Mind Manual’ and ‘A Better Day’, the latter winning Children’s Non-Fiction Book of the Year at the British Book Awards. In 2023, Alex joined Anna Richardson and Yinka Bokinni to present Naked Education, dedicated to body positivity and educating viewers on what a ‘normal’ body looks like. His acclaimed documentaries, including BBC One’s ‘Dr Alex: Our Young Mental Health Crisis’, have brought urgent wellbeing issues into mainstream discussion, while his podcast ‘The Waiting Room’ celebrates healthcare professionals and explores the realities of life on the frontline.

As a keynote speaker, Alex delivers open, honest and engaging talks on mental health, resilience, burnout and workplace wellbeing. Blending professional expertise with deeply personal experiences, he creates conversations that resonate with audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Alex advises organisations on supporting employee wellbeing, reducing stigma and creating healthier workplace cultures. Instantly recognisable yet grounded and approachable, he is respected for his ability to make complex mental health topics accessible, relatable and actionable. Whether speaking at corporate events, educational conferences or public campaigns, Alex inspires audiences to prioritise wellbeing and believe that there is always hope for a better day.

In November 2023 we sat down virtually with Dr Alex George and discussed his role with Downing Street and how we can encourage an open conversation with young people about mental health. Watch our Exclusive Interview with Dr Alex George.
