One of the world’s most inspirational models and activists, Harnaam Kaur is a social media star who has taken all of life’s setbacks in her stride. At the age of 12, she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome which led her to develop Hirsutism, which causes excess hair growth. After years of being bullied, she decided to embrace her hair growth in 2014 and soon earned global fame for her unapologetic approach to donning a full beard. Now, Harnaam is one of the world’s most inspirational mental health speakers covering topics such as the LGBT+ community, cyberbullying and body positivity.
Undoubtedly Harnaam’s biggest success to date has been her modelling work. Since becoming a star of social media she has taken to the runway at London Fashion Week, modelled for Rock N Roll Bride and is signed with iconic French modelling agency Wanted Models. Having appeared in the Guinness World Records for being the youngest woman in the world to sport a full beard, her appearances at some of the world’s most iconic fashion events have seen her promote body positivity on a huge scale.
Growing up in the UK she was the victim of traumatic bullying at school and regularly self-harmed as well as contemplated suicide. After moving to India to work as a teacher she learned to love her body and the global fame she’s since achieved has seen Harnaam campaign for a number of good causes.
Now, she works as an incredibly inspiring and influential mental health speaker using her own experiences to help audiences everywhere. Harnaam has even contributed to discussions in the Houses of Parliament shining a light on a whole host of important issues which promote acceptance. Believing that just because she looks different she should not be treated differently, Harnaam is passionate about supporting people’s emotional wellbeing and mental health.
