Best known for his role as Directing Staff on SAS: Who Dares Wins, Ollie Ollerton is a former UK Special Forces Soldier who’s successful, yet challenging career have given him a revered reputation as a mental health speaker. Having battled with his own mental health, Ollie is able to help others who are suffering and is passionate about helping veterans who are suffering with PTSD. Ambassador for charities StrongMen and The Royal Marines Charity, Ollie covers all aspects of mental health and is compassionate in all mental health orientated speeches.
Ollie first joined military life aged only 18 years old, becoming a Royal Marine Commando. Showing his commitment to the forces, and his ability to cope with the extreme, Ollie toured across countries such as Northern Ireland and Iraq. Building quite the reputation, Ollie was later recommended to try out for the SAS, successfully passing selection as one of seven out of 250 candidates. Ollie later became a member of the Special Boat Services, spending six years with the SBS and gaining skills in hostage negotiation, counter-terrorism, insurgency operations and humanitarian aid.
Unfortunately during his time in the forces, Ollie began to battle with his mental health. Turning to alcohol and anti-anxiety medications, Ollie felt even worse on his return to civilian life. A career which demands mental resilience, emotions are seen as a weakness, something that Ollie today is strongly against. Now recovered from his struggles, Ollie is passionately helping others to overcome adversity. Ollie is the founder of Break Point, a corporate training programme in leadership and development that also helps veterans in their struggles with PTSD. Ollie has also co-founded Battle Ready 360, joining forces with Jason Fox to create a health and wellness app to better the wellbeing of its users.
Ambassador of StrongMen, a charity that deals with emotional and mental health issues surrounding bereavement, Ollie is now a popular choice as a mental health speaker. Speaking about his own struggles with his mental health, Ollie is also an avid supporter of those suffering from PTSD and is passionate to help them overcome their struggles. A compassionate and experienced speaker, Ollie is often sought to speak on mental and physical limits and helps people to feel as though they are not alone.
“A huge thanks to Ollie Ollerton for joining us on site for a very engaging and inspiring talk on the importance of following process and procedure when faced with change – something that is an everyday occurrence both on site and in the field. Some great parallels between the two work environments, brought home and underpinned by a very powerful story. In addition, and especially in the current climate, a very relevant and open discussion surrounding mental health, the importance of ‘the team’ and your support network. Ultimately, we are all one family when in work.” – Rob, Costain Group plc
“We were really happy with Ollie’s presentation. It was clear, honest, inspiring and most of all tangible. The tips and tricks he provided were the kind that you can actually practice easy and simple.”- Tetra Pak
“Please can you pass on a HUGE thanks from all of us here at Rubrik and from our customers & partners. Such a great presentation, really well received, and Ollie was incredible!
