Outstanding comedian turned mental health advocate, Ruby Wax OBE is considered to be one of the world’s most influential wellbeing speakers. She has supplied countless transformative speeches, including her popular 2012 TED Talk, where she discussed the many faces of stress, anxiety and depression. In 2015, the same year that she received her OBE, she was appointed Visiting Professor in Mental Health Nursing at the University of Surrey, before being appointed Chancellor of the University of Southampton in 2019. Ruby teaches business leaders how to recognise symptoms of burnout in their staff, and supplies techniques for improving workplace wellbeing.

Ruby has written several self-help books and memoirs on mental health, including And Now for the Good News, How to Be Human and A Mindfulness Guide for the Frazzled, a number bestseller. Her published work helps readers to be kinder to their minds, and value the small victories in life. After noting the need for accessible relationship counselling, Ruby was appointed President of Relate. She is also an ambassador for Mind and Sane, a patron of the British Neuroscience Association, and has managed open sessions for mental health sufferers to tell their stories.

Following her diagnosis of depression, Ruby graduated with a Master’s Degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She went on to earn a postgraduate in psychotherapy and counselling, the knowledge from which features in her Sunday Times bestseller and theatre show, Sane New World: Taming the Mind. As a comedian, Ruby combines humour and thought-provoking discussion of mental health to resonate with audiences, evidenced through her debut show, Losing It. Her transformative impact is credited to Ruby’s extensive career in entertainment, which includes such appearances as The Full Wax and The Ruby Wax Show.
