Dr Suzanne O’Brien is a neuroscientist, clinical hypnotherapist and mental health speaker who specialises in translating complex brain science into practical strategies for wellbeing, performance and clarity. With more than ten years of research experience, she is particularly recognised for her expertise in neuroplasticity, the brain’s capacity to adapt, learn and change throughout life. Suzanne is hired by organisations and wellbeing events to make neuroscience accessible, providing audiences with research-backed insights they can apply to their everyday lives.

Suzanne’s academic background began with a BA in Psychology, before she progressed to an MSc and PhD in Neuroscience. Through her extensive research career, she developed a detailed understanding of the brain and the science underpinning habits, stress, memory and behavioural change. This foundation allows Suzanne to bring scientific rigour to conversations surrounding mental health, while explaining complicated neurological concepts in a clear and engaging way.

Building upon her research expertise, Suzanne became a GHR-registered clinical hypnotherapist specialising in neuroplasticity. Alongside her corporate work, she runs a one-to-one hypnotherapy practice and is currently training in psychotherapy. Combining academic neuroscience with hands-on clinical practice gives Suzanne valuable insight into both the scientific mechanisms behind behaviour and the practical realities of helping individuals create meaningful change.

As a mental health speaker, Suzanne is hired for her ability to transform scientific research into practical, understandable guidance. Rather than presenting neuroscience solely as theory, she equips audiences with clear, research-backed steps they can immediately put into action. Her expertise helps audiences better understand their brains, recognise how habits and stress influence behaviour, and discover how neuroplasticity can support positive, lasting change.
